Dear graduating seniors in the College of Science,
I offer my congratulations to you on your upcoming commencement. You have much be proud of! As the College of Science Diploma Ceremony approaches, just two weeks from tomorrow, I wanted to share important information for you to note.
The University is finalizing the details and safety protocols. Information will continue to be updated at commencement.nd.edu as it becomes available.
Below is an important list of things to note ahead of the Diploma Ceremony:
HONOR CORD PICKUP ON WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY, MAY 19 & 20
If you are receiving Latin honors (i.e. if your cumulative GPA is > 3.857), you may pick up cords to wear with your cap and gown. The honor cords will be distributed by Mrs. Lori Goffeney on the 2nd floor balcony of Jordan Hall (near the piano), or just outside Jordan by the sundial (weather permitting). Each student must bring a picture ID and may only pick up their own honor cords. The dates to pick up your cords are based on your last name:
A–L: Wednesday, May 19, 11 am – 5 pm
M–Z: Thursday, May 20, 11 am – 5 pm
COLLEGE DIPLOMA CEREMONY IN NOTRE DAME STADIUM ON SATURDAY, MAY 22
For the College of Science Undergraduate Diploma Ceremony on Saturday, May 22, there will be no procession into the stadium. All seats in Notre Dame Stadium, both for participants and guests, will be assigned.
Graduates should arrive at the North Tunnel (Rockne Gate) at their assigned time to check-in to receive a “reader card” that provides a seat assignment and the information that will be read while graduates walk across the stage. Please arrive as follows:
11:30 AM: MATH, PHYS, PHIM, SCBU and SCCO majors
11:40 AM: BCHM, CHEM, CHBU, BIOS, ES, and NSBH majors
11:50 AM: ACMS, STAT, and SCPP majors
All graduates must be in their assigned seats no later than 12:15 p.m.
Faculty marshals will be in the stadium to assist with locating your seats and directing graduates during the ceremony.
On the day of the ceremony, students will receive an empty diploma jacket. All diplomas will be mailed to the student’s address of record.
Each graduate is eligible to request four guest tickets. Students should have received an email regarding ticketing from the Notre Dame Registrar. All guests must be seated in their assigned seat no later than 12:15 p.m.
For those who wish to celebrate our graduates but cannot participate in person, the College of Science Undergraduate Diploma Ceremony will be livestreamed on commencement.nd.edu.
EXTREME WEATHER PLAN
The ceremony will proceed in the stadium even if it rains. In the event of extreme weather, the indoor location is the Purcell Pavilion at the Joyce Center.
No guest tickets will be allowed if the ceremony is moved to Purcell Pavilion.
We will send a reminder email on May 21. We welcome your questions and concerns; inquiries should be directed to Kim Kirkpatrick.
